Our Policy
Sign In and Pick up Policy
Parents must sign the attendance log when dropping off or picking up their children. Children will only be handed over to persons who are authorized to pick up the child
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones are strictly prohibited. If a child comes to the center with a cell phone it will be taken from him/her and returned to the parent when the child is picked up.
Pick Up/Drop Off Policy
Biting is a behavior that is both age and stage appropriate for children under the age of 2 years. Even in high quality settings, where staff is vigilant, biting among young children can still occur. If child under the age of 24 months bites, we will work together with the parents to correct this behavior. If the biting continues after all steps have been taken to address the behavior, it will be deemed in the best interest of the child and other children attending the center, that the child be removed from the center.
If a child above 24 months bites another child, parents will be notified, and appropriate actions will be taken to prevent this from happening again. A second incident of biting will result in suspension of up to 4 weeks. A third incident of biting or attempt at biting will result in the child being removed from the center
Illness Policy
Fever
Fevers are common in young children and are often a signal that there is a dysfunction in the child’s body. If your child has a fever of 101.0 F or higher, please keep him or her home. If your child develops a fever of 100.0 F while at the center you will be called to pick him or her up. Our policy is your child must remain free of fever for 24 hours before returning to childcare. Area pediatricians agree with this policy. The twenty four hours begin when the child’s fever is broken and remains in normal range.
Diarrhea and Vomiting
Diarrhea due to illness is highly contagious. If your child has diarrhea, please keep him or her home. If your child has three or more diarrhea episodes or any uncontained diarrhea while at daycare you will be called to pick him or her up. Our care providers use gloves while changing diapers. Please understand that germs from diarrhea can be spread through carpets toys and direct contact. It is difficult to keep these germs from spreading to other children.
If your child vomits while at daycare you will be called immediately to pick him or her up. Please keep him or her home until 24 hours after the vomiting has stopped. When the children return too soon there is a higher chance of reoccurrence and contagiousness.
Diarrhea, coughs, colds, and vomiting
Colds are a common occurrence. However there are some symptoms that warrant keeping a child at home. These include hacking or persistent coughs, green or yellow nasal discharge or phlegm being coughed up. These symptoms may be present with or without a fever. If your child has a cold only please notify us. We will administer cold medicines with your written permission.
Rash
A rash may be a sign of many illnesses such as measles, chicken pox, or hand, foot and mouth disease. In infants an external rash may be a sign that something is going on internally. Please do not send your child to the center until a doctor says it is ok to do so.
Biting Policy
If you are dropping off your child after 8:00 am please ensure that they are fed and diapered since they will be joining a scheduled activity. We strongly discourage bringing toys and eating candy when they arrive.
